Afterlife With Archie (Book 1)

I am not a Riverdale/Archie fan so I don't really know anything about these characters but this was a very enjoyable read. My local library only has the first volume so I won't be reviewing the full series but I would recommend it.

The comic is beautiful it really uses color and character design to create a terrifying environment. It has a kind of 80s extremely colorful backgrounds but in some scenes like when the zombies start attacking the Lodge Manor it becomes a much more serious and realistic color pallete. I think the comic is beautiful by itself but I also enjoyed their interpretation of zombies.

The zombies in this universe are started by some magic curse caused by trying to revive a dead dog. Which isn't really anything special but they also have kind of smart zombies. In this book it ends with zombie Jughead starting a siege against the Lodge Manor. They seemed to be intelligent but also kind of stupid and they found a sweetspot where the zombies can siege a house and sort of organize but their individual actions are a lot more primitive. I loved the zombies in this.

Overall very good 9/10 I would geniunely read the whole series if my library had the series. The only problem I had was with the love triangle, and I know its a key part of the franchise I just don't like it.
