Rating

I love this movie but the zombie scenes are so funny. I recommend watching it and give it a 4.8/5. I think its a very fun movie if you take it as either a comedy or an action movie.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

I think this movie really held up. The zombie scenes were sometimes goofy but it still had some great action scenes. The actors did fantastic but Steve's actor being the same for Phil from Modern Family was really silly. The writing is fantastic most of the time. A fun note is that this movie had James Gunn and Zack Snyder on it. The camera work is very nice with some great scenes at the start (I am a sucker for opening destruction shots) and the TV parts are a great addition to creating an atmosphere in the film. The ending was sad but had a fulfilling conclusion to C.J. and Micheal, but personally I didn't like the credit scenes since it kinda guaranteed the survivor's fate and I prefer a more open ended ending.

I think one of my favorite scenes in all of zombie media has to be Terry watching someone, who's father just died, and is just looking at her through a camera and he thinks to himself I outta slide into her dms irl. A really good example of when not to do that. Altough it's the best ship in the movie so I can't stay mad for long.

Zombies

I love the zombies in this movie. They're kinda lame most of the time but the ideas they came up with are hillarious. In general the zombies can be scary and are quite numerous. I don't like them most of the time since they're just in the backgroun and it's easy to forget its a zombie movie. The scene with the zombie birth is unintentionally super funny; Andre has just gone insane and also they have a cgi zombie baby screeching. Despite how funny that is my favorite is the legless zombie. It shows up and climbs the pipes like it's a jungle gym and runs at someone. I want to see these kinda zombies in a comedy movie. Altough the infection time was very inconsistent with someone turning in minutes, days, or maybe even weeks.

Bonus "Andy's Terrifying Last Days"

Andy was a character who owned a gun shop across the street. He's a pretty cool character despite his lack of lines. As an extra feature on the film we get to see Andy document what's happening to him on a computer. It's a very chilling seeing him lose his sanity. It's a nice extra feature and I like extra features that adds more to an important background chracter.
